Buyers show renewed interest in city living as vaccines bring hope

For the first time since the pandemic began, more homeowners appear to be looking to move into cities, as new vaccines bring hope that urban living can return to normal after a year spent on ice as the virus raged.

Cleaning pollen is not a spring activity many homeowners look forward to performing. However, as temperatures are heating up,  that means pollen counts are on the upswing, too. If you want to enjoy your outdoor spaces, you’ll need to take a few steps to enjoy the outdoors.

For Glass Surfaces:

  • Use Windex  and paper towels to wipe off pollen and brighten windows. You can also create a DIY glass cleaner with water and vinegar as vinegar will help make your glass even more streak-free.

For wood and plastic surfaces:

  • Brush off as much pollen as possible, then use a gentle cleaner. A simple combination of dish soap and water will work well.
  • For a deck, brush the deck if the pollen is thick, then hose down the deck or mop with a simple cleaning solution.

For patio chair cushions or fabric:

  • Brush off pollen as best as you can. You can beat the pillows together to help naturally remove the pollen.
  • Use a simple solution to wipe down the cushions, then wipe with a dry paper towel.
  • You can hose cushions down if necessary, but make sure that they can dry quickly- either in the sun or in the dryer if they are dryer friendly. Cushions that remain damp may develop mildew or a bad odor.
