Nothing tastes better than a strawberry picked fresh off the vine. The season typically runs from mid-April to early June. Here are some of our favorite places within driving distance of Atlanta. Be sure to call or check the farms’ websites or social media pages for hours and to make sure strawberries are available.

Due to COVID-19, practice safe social distancing measures while at these farms, and some farms may not be offering u-pick options at this time. Check websites for safety precautions.

Adams Farm
Since 1805, this family-owned farm in Fayetteville has been a staple for fruits and vegetables. In the springtime, people flock here to pick strawberries or to purchase them pre-picked. The market and u-pick fields are open Mon.-Sat. and are projected to open from mid-April to June.

The Berry Patch at Freedom Farms
The Berry Patch at Freedom Farms in Chatsworth is planning to open on May 1. Each Saturday, they offer appointments every 45 minutes from 9 a.m.-12:15 p.m. They also have special Family and Friends day appointments on Mondays.

Elliott Farms
This family-owned farm is in Lizella, but worth a visit if you are driving that way. They offer u-pick events during the strawberry season and plan to be open until mid-May. They also serve strawberry ice cream and offer lots of other fresh fruits and vegetables.

Fitzgerald Fruit Farms
If you live on the Southside, head to Woodbury to pick a bucketful of fresh strawberries. At The Shed, grab produce, strawberry or peach ice cream and more. For adults, taste their Sweet Strawberry Wine in the tasting room.

Jaemor Farms
Grab strawberries at Jaemor Farms (which is a combination of the owners’ names) in Alto, northeast of Gainesville is a farm full of fun. Their produce also includes blackberries, cucumbers, muscadines, corn, tomatoes and more. They also have a market in Commerce. On May 8, stop by for Berry Fest for strawberry products, samples, giveaways and farm tours.
